Support for Parents and Guardians
Parents are invited in April to our Post-18 Information Evening, which has been described as “very interesting and engaging” and as “excellent…the best I have been to. Brilliant speakers, right level of info, right amount of time.” Resources are shared directly with parents after the event, and can be accessed at a later date.
You will also find our Post-18 Information Booklet full of useful information – it can be accessed here. Each Sixth Form student is given a copy of this booklet.
What is the St Mary's Careers Programme
Careers, post-18 and financial education is delivered by experienced Sixth Form Tutors over the course of Year 12 and Year 13, but we kick things off very early on your sixth form journey with a visit to the higher education and apprenticeship fair at Elland Road, where you can meet and talk to a huge range of people, companies and universities to get excited and inspired about your next steps. However, things really get going after Easter in Year 12. We will have visiting speakers and workshops, a number of days off timetable, another HE Fair and a week of work experience. It’s this comprehensive and bespoke programme that explains why our destinations data is so amazing and our students go on to do such inspiring and fulfilling courses and careers – you can read more about it in our Careers policy in the policies section..
