GCSE Celebrations
There was a wonderful atmosphere of celebration at St Mary’s Menston today as students collected their GCSE results. Within another year of impressive examination results there was a lovely balance of personal stories, including exceptional academic performances alongside successes and progress for students who overcame challenges.
Headteacher, Margaret Hattersley, said; “It is a privilege to work with young people who have such high aspirations, and it is so pleasing to see them excelling academically as well as witnessing their spiritual and personal growth during their time with us. They can now look to the future with confidence, and we look forward to welcoming many of them back into our excellent Sixth Form.”
Well over one third of all grades achieved this year were a grade 7 or higher, which is well above the 2024 national average, additionally the school’s EBacc entry levels and attainment figures continue to remain significantly above national averages.
At St Mary’s our focus is always on the value and worth of each individual, and we take great pride in seeing each young person fulfil their own potential. We are immensely proud of the resilience, determination and fortitude shown by all of our students and the wonderful progress they have made over the last five years, in spite of the significant challenges that blighted the start of their secondary education.
It is particularly gratifying that this group of young people are in a position where they can make positive choices about their futures with genuine optimism and self-assurance. Thank you to the dedicated teaching and support staff who have worked incredibly hard to support our students accompanied by the unwavering support from parents and carers.
Finally, for those students who are moving on to other post -16 establishments we wish them the very best with their future endeavours and thank them for their contributions to life at St Mary’s during their time here.
