Our Mission, Vision and Values
We are a pilgrim school and we journey with Mary to become the person God intends us to be.
At the heart of our mission is character education. It is our desire that St Mary’s is a place where we draw out the many gifts and talents of our individual pupils and enable them to grow in virtue so they become the well-rounded individuals God intends them to be, the very best version of themselves, and ultimately, they are happy and flourish in life.
Our mission recognises that the journey towards human flourishing takes time and is like a pilgrimage where we are united in our purpose to challenge and nurture our pupils on that journey of self-discovery and personal growth. On this journey, we enable them to develop their character focused on intellectual virtues, performance virtues and community virtues.
Ambition, Opportunity and Faith are fundamental principles within our mission which together allow us to flourish. Click on the images below to learn more about them.

Ambition
Ambition
At St Mary’s, we have an ambition for all our pupils whatever their life story or individual context. We have an inclusive ambition for all our pupils to be the very best version of themselves by growing, developing, and challenging themselves to overcome barriers and obstacles. We want our pupils to search and strive for excellence in all that they do, say and achieve in life.

Opportunity
Opportunity
At St Mary’s, we provide a wide range of opportunities to nurture and develop our pupils’ individual gifts and talents. Our extensive and rich educational, pastoral and spiritual offer, extends beyond the classroom, and allows us to develop their full character.

Faith
Faith
At St Mary’s, our Catholic Christian faith is the cornerstone of our school community and is foundational to our mission. We believe that all pupils are created in the image and likeness of God and have a unique and special character. We are inspired by this faith belief and by those who are lived examples of that faith. On our journey, we try to imitate Christ and our saints such as our patron saint Mary so that by following their example of perfect discipleship we grow in virtue each day and put our eight core values into practice.
